The Okmulgee County Conservation District is the only local unit of government responsible for the conservation, restoration and development of Oklahoma 's renewable natural resources. Assistance from the District is available to individual landowners, groups, cities, and towns concerned about preventing soil erosion and water pollution, upgrading wildlife and recreational areas, and preserving nature's beauty.

2010 Poster Contest Results

The 2010 Okmulgee Conservation Poster Contest was completed in May resulting in some beautiful and creative posters for the contest. This year's poster contest theme was "Conservation Habits = Healthy Habitats." Some of the habitats featured was tree frogs, honey bees, and healthy forests.

The first place winners in each of the following categories were awarded with a pizza party gift certificate compliments of the poster contest's co-sponsor, East Central Oklahoma Electric Cooperative.

The winning posters will also proceed on to the area contest in the fall to compete against winning posters from all over northeastern Oklahoma. Winners are as follows:

Fifth Grade: 1 st place: Kimber Gilbert, Twin Hills

Sixth Grade: 1 st Place : Keegan Lytch, Dewar

2 nd Place : Allie Wallis, Twin Hills

Seventh Grade: 1 st Place : Jilleana Beard, Dewar

Eighth Grade: 1 st Place : Kristina Pembrook, Morris
